Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how demo.st (“we”, “our”, or “the Service”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website and hosting service.
1. Information we collect
- Account data: When you register or sign in, we store your email address. If you use a password, we store a hashed version (we never store plain-text passwords). If you sign in with Google or GitHub, we store the identifier provided by that provider and associate it with your account.
- Subdomain and content: We store the subdomain you reserve (e.g.
my-project) and the static files you upload (HTML, CSS, JS, images) so we can serve them at your subdomain (e.g.my-project.demo.st). - Cookies and session: We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
- Logs: Our servers may log requests (e.g. IP address, URL, timestamp) for security and operation. We do not sell this data.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to: provide and operate the Service (e.g. hosting your subdomain, serving your files); authenticate you and enforce one subdomain per account; send you transactional emails (e.g. verification codes for registration) if applicable; and improve or secure the Service. We do not use your data for advertising or to build profiles for third parties.
3. Third parties
If you sign in with Google or GitHub, those providers receive your sign-in request and their own privacy policies apply to that interaction. We receive from them only the identifier and email needed to create or match your account. Your uploaded content is stored on our (or our hosting provider’s) infrastructure, not on Google or GitHub.
4. Retention and deletion
We retain your account and subdomain data for as long as your account exists. If you release your subdomain, we remove the associated files from our storage. You can stop using the Service at any time; we may retain minimal data (e.g. in backups or logs) for a limited period for legal or operational reasons.
5. Security
We use industry-standard measures (e.g. HTTPS, hashed passwords, secure session cookies) to protect your data. No system is completely secure; you use the Service at your own risk.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To request changes or deletion, contact us (e.g. via the support or contact method indicated on the Service).
7. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
8. Contact
